Little Bird Freedom

Little Bird Freedom
Little bird on the ledge I see,
no different from you and me.
Small and fragile, a delicate mess,
flustered eyes reveal your distress.
Alone you gaze at the scene below,
a painted canvas with shadows that glow.

To sleep is bliss,
in a night skyless;
Afraid they’ll notice
no brush, no witness

to colour the sky with shades of another,
you search below for a friend or a brother.

Your feathers twitch; uncertainty looms,
one step to freedom, one drop to gloom.
A fleeting moment, your fate is near,
you stare so silently, closer to the sheer.
When you jump, I stumble my heart to fear
no wings on me, my fate unclear
